Silver coin (1 Mohar) of King Jaya Prakash Malla of Kathmandu, made for Tibet. These coins with the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism were very popular in Tibet. This coin originates from Jaya Prakash Malla’s first government period 1735-1746. It is made of pure silver. Coins from his second reign period 1752-1768 partly were made of a mixture of silver and copper due to Prithvi Narayan’s blockade of the Kathmandu Valley. They were the reason for the coin-conflict between Nepal and Tibet. Shaping-date is Nepal Sambat 856 = 1736 AD.
